Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Tuesday that it launched ballistic missiles targeting US military facilities and troop deployment sites at an airbase in Jordan. The IRGC stated the strike was part of Operation "Nasr 2," specifically identifying it as the latest phase of the operation. This significant military action marks an escalation in regional tensions, with the IRGC asserting its justification for the strike. The group claimed the United States had utilized the base to initiate attacks against Iran, including a strike in Minab that it asserted resulted in the deaths of 168 schoolchildren and teachers. In its official statement, the IRGC added, "Your serious demand to remove the American occupation bases from the region represents a major contribution to saving the Palestinian people and restoring security to the region," and also noted, "The advancement and pride of Jordan is our wish."

Jordanian Defense Intercepts Missiles

Jordan's military announced that its air defenses intercepted four Iranian missiles that entered the country's airspace overnight. The interception occurred as the missiles traversed Jordanian territory, indicating a rapid response from the kingdom's defense systems. This swift action prevented the missiles from reaching their intended targets within Jordan.

No injuries were reported as a result of the intercepted missiles. Additionally, Jordanian authorities confirmed that there was no material damage sustained from the incident, either to civilian infrastructure or military installations. The successful interception by Jordan's air defenses ensured the safety of its citizens and military personnel, mitigating any potential harm from the inbound projectiles.

IRGC Justifies Attack

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) connected its missile strike to broader regional security concerns, framing the attack as a necessary response to perceived American aggression. The IRGC stated that removing American military bases from the region would significantly contribute to regional stability and the welfare of its inhabitants. "Your serious demand to remove the American occupation bases from the region represents a major contribution to saving the Palestinian people and restoring security to the region," the IRGC asserted in its public declaration. This statement showed the IRGC's position that the presence of US forces is a destabilizing factor in the Middle East. The Iranian force also conveyed a message regarding Jordan's future, expressing a desire for the kingdom's prosperity. "The advancement and pride of Jordan is our wish," the IRGC added, attempting to differentiate its actions from any animosity towards the Jordanian state itself. This statement followed the IRGC's claim that the U.S. Had used a Jordanian airbase to launch attacks against Iran, specifically citing the alleged strike in Minab.

Message to Jordan

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) communicated directly with the Jordanian people, asserting that Iran harbored no animosity toward their nation. This direct address aimed to clarify the IRGC's intentions, despite the missile strike. The IRGC stressed, "The advancement and pride of Jordan is our wish," indicating a desire for a positive relationship with the Hashemite Kingdom, even while targeting US assets within its borders. This message was part of a broader statement from the Iranian force, which also linked regional stability to the removal of American military presence. The IRGC emphasized that a demand for the removal of such bases would serve a greater regional purpose, benefiting all nations in the area. "Your serious demand to remove the American occupation bases from the region represents a major contribution to saving the Palestinian people and restoring security to the region," the IRGC stated, framing the removal of US forces as essential for regional peace and the Palestinian cause. The IRGC's targeting of US military facilities and troop deployment sites at an airbase in Jordan was declared as part of the latest phase of Operation "Nasr 2."
